Artistes Stand Up Against Domestic Violence

I Wayne

New York based DJT Promotions, Sunlight Productions and Global Harmony, a charity organization which operates out of the UK, have joined forces with a number of reggae and dancehall artistes to fight against domestic violence. On Saturday August 17, they will stage the first annual White House Culture Jam at the White House Beach Park in Westmoreland.
According George O’Gilvie of DJT Promotions domestic violence is a very serious problem globally and as such he and his partners are working to help to eliminate it.
“As we all know domestic violence in a very serious problem all over the world, its affecting countless people in some way or another in various countries. As responsible individuals we will not sit down and watch this problem as it continues to grow and do nothing about it. So together with our partners we have decided to join the fight against domestic violence. We first began to work together in 2012 when our artiste Lazah Current did a number of events to promote the fight against domestic violence. In August of that same year we also teamed up with Sunlight Promotions to do a back to school give away event in St. Catherine
Lady G
, which was sponsored by LIME. Now we are all working together on this project and we are hoping to achieve great success together as we continue to play our part in the fight against domestic violence,” said Mr. O’Gilvie.
The White House Culture Jam will be staged to raise funds for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Kingston.
“A number of really talented and concerned artistes have joined with us in our fight and they will be performing at the White House Culture Jam.  We are putting together an event that will be very entertaining and informative and part proceeds from the event will go to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Mr. O’Gilvie said.”
He also added: “On the night of the show we are going to make presentations to the Bustamante Children’s Hospital, the Savanna-la-mar Hospital, the Black River Hospital and the Portland Infirmary. All four institutions will be given much needed medical supplies courtesy of DJT Promotions.”
