| Asfa signing his contract as 619 Entertainment boss looks on |
A working relationship for over eighteen months
that was based on a handshake was made official on May 28th 2013 when rising
singer Asfa signed a management contract with veteran artiste manager/ producer
Roger Grant.
Since joining forces with Grant the singer made
a dramatic entrance into the musical arena with the number one song titled Not The Life. The song which was his debut single, also showed up on the New
York top 30 reggae charts and the South Florida top 25 reggae charts as well as
other charts in Holland and Australia.
Asfa was also delighted to have his first EP
Take A Look on his own Jecoliah Entertainment Production being distributed by
VP subsidiary VPAL and having his hit single included in the top selling
various artist compilation Question Riddim album, all by design due to efforts
of management.
Roger Grant is the head of the Philadelphia based
619 Entertainment Group and is popularly known as the founder of Organic
Records as far back as 1999. When Grant started Organic he released singles by
Fourth Street Sisters, Big Mountain, and Sanchez. The label however became
synonymous with the career of Guyanese reggae star Natural Black who gave it
its first hits in the form of Songs With Feeling and Bad Mind. Grant
subsequently became Blacks manager and steered him towards international
recognition not fully realized when he migrated to the States in 2004.
Asfa believes that Grant is experienced enough
to take him beyond what he achieved with Blacks. An added bonus is the fact
that Grant and another partner Benton Patrick Dunn are also working with Asfa
as producers to complete his debut album Journeying due for arrival later this
year.
Asfa commented on the latest development in his
career saying "I know it was imperative to secure a manager before
venturing out. This is a new day in my life as an artiste and I’m excited about
the endless possibilities that are ahead of us.”
